The browser speaks the engine's wire protocol directly over this WebSocket URL (override stored in this browser; default from NEXT_PUBLIC_NYXDB_WS_URL) — it is the console's only transport. Health is probed with the protocol's wire-level ping, which leaves no trace in the query log; an engine that rejects the ping op counts as unreachable.

Applies immediately and persists across visits. The toggle lives here for now; promoting it to the topbar is a one-line follow-up in the shell.
